Subject:Transmission Slip, Shudder or Grind Noise in First, Second or Reverse, DTC P079A Supplement to 08-07-30-033

Models:2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Two-Mode Hybrid
2008 GMC Yukon Two-Mode Hybrid
with 2ML70 Automatic Transmission (RPO M99)


The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

This PI is meant as a supplement to tsb 08-07-30-033 and to aid the technician during the replacement of the transmission rear case assembly.

Recommendation/Instructions:

The new transmission rear case assembly does not come with a sun gear and the original sun gear may stay in the original case during disassembly. Make sure to transfer the original sun gear into the new housing or back on to the sun shaft prior to reassembly.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
