(Hybrid) Itch Or Rattle Noise From Center Of Instrument Panel

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

A customer may comment about a rattle, Itch, or tapping type noise from the center of the instrument panel area while driving. The cause may be an engine wiring harness making contact with a dowl pin on the forward bulkhead (Back side of the engine compartment)

If you experience this concern, Please remove the engine cover and locate the engine harness as shown in the photo below.

Inspect for a holding clip that secures the engine harness to the fuel line bracket. See Photo Below.

If the holding clip is missing, you will need to E-mail or fax a completed Warranty Parts Center (WPC) request (shown below). The WPC part number is #447 and the WPC will ship you one retaining clip until stock is available at GMSPO.

Once you have obtained the clip from the WPC, you will have to remove any slack from the effected engine harness by pulling the harness forward and then installing the clip as shown in the photo bellows. (Note: make sure that you secure the holding clip in the upper hole of the fuel line bracket as shown in the photo).

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
