Drive Belt Inspection

  1. Inspect the drive belt for cracks, cuts, wear and damage. Replace the belt if any cracks, cuts, wear or damage exist.
  2. If any sections of the belt ribs are missing, replace the belt.

  3. Object Number: 354740 Size: SH
  4. Inspect the belt for proper alignment on the pulleys.

  5. Object Number: 354741 Size: SH
  6. If the drive belt is improperly aligned, align the drive belt.

Power Steering Pump Drive Belt Removal Procedure

  1. Loosen the power steering pump mounting bolts.
  2. Pivot the power steering pump towards the engine in order to relieve the tension on the belt.

  3. Object Number: 349452 Size: SH
  4. Remove the power steering pump drive belt (1) from the pulleys.

Power Steering Pump Drive Belt Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 349452 Size: SH
  1. Properly route and install the power steering pump drive belt (1) on the power steering pump and the crankshaft pulleys.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Adjust the power steering pump drive belt to obtain 6-9 mm (0.24-0.35 in) deflection.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the power steering pump mounting bolts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

A/C Compressor Drive Belt Removal Procedure

  1. Loosen the A/C compressor mounting bolts.
  2. Pivot the A/C compressor towards the engine in order to relieve the tension on the belt.

  3. Object Number: 349453 Size: SH
  4. Remove the A/C compressor drive belt (1) from the pulleys.

A/C Compressor Drive Belt Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 349453 Size: SH
  1. Properly route and install the A/C compressor drive belt (1) on the A/C compressor, the power steering (if equipped), and the crankshaft pulleys.

  3. Adjust the A/C compressor drive belt to obtain 6- 9 mm (0.24-0.35 in) deflection.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the A/C compressor mounting bolts to 18- 28 N·m (13-20 lb ft).

Generator Drive Belt Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the power steering pump and the A/C compressor drive belt.

  2. Object Number: 711865 Size: SH
  3. Loosen the generator mounting bolts.
  4. Pivot the generator towards the engine and remove the accessory drive belt.

Generator Drive Belt Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 711865 Size: SH
  1. Properly route and install the generator drive belt on the pulleys.
