Removal Procedure
- Remove the two crankcase vent hoses from the valve rocker arm cover.
- Remove the two ignition coils (4) and the secondary spark plug wires from the valve rocker arm cover.
- Unclip the accelerator cable from the accelerator cable bracket.
- Remove the six bolts and the valve rocker arm cover from the cylinder head.
- Remove the valve rocker arm cover gasket and four O-rings (3) from the cylinder head.
- Clean the sealing surfaces on the cylinder head and the valve rocker arm cover.
Installation Procedure
- Install the new valve rocker arm cover gasket (1) and four O-rings (3) to the valve rocker arm cover (2).
- Install the valve rocker arm cover to the cylinder head. Secure the cover with six bolts (1).
- Install the two ignition coils and the secondary spark plug wires to the valve rocker arm cover.
- Install the two crankcase vent hoses to the valve rocker arm cover.
- Install the accelerator cable to the accelerator cable bracket.
Important: A new valve rocker arm cover gasket and O-rings MUST be used whenever the valve rocker arm cover removal and installation is performed. Ensure that the new gasket and O-rings are correctly positioned during the valve rocker arm cover installation.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the valve rocker arm cover bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
Tighten
Tighten the ignition coil bolts to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
