The engine mounts are the nonadjustable type and seldom require service. Broken or deteriorated mounts must be replaced immediately because of the added strain that is placed on the other mounts and the drive line components.

Use the following procedure to inspect for faulty engine mounts:

  1. Raise the engine to remove the weight from the mounts and place a slight tension in the rubber (3, 5).
  2. Observe the mounts while raising the engine.
  3. Replace any mount that exhibits the following conditions:
  4. • Hard rubber surfaces covered with heat check cracks
    • Rubber that is separated from the metal plate of the mount
    • Rubber that is split through the center
  5. Perform the following procedure if there is movement between a metal plate of the mount and its attaching points:
  6. 4.1. Lower the engine on the mounts.
    4.2. Tighten the bolts or nuts that secure the mount to the engine, frame or bracket.
