Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the transmission. Refer to Two-Wheel-Drive Transmission Replacement or to Four-Wheel-Drive Transmission Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 153635  Size: SH
  3. Remove the torque converter (1) from transmission.
  4. Remove the torque converter seal bolts from transmission.
  5. Remove the torque converter seal from transmission.
  6. Remove the input shaft seal from input shaft .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the Input shaft seal to input shaft.
  2. Install the torque converter seal to transmission.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the converter seal bolts to transmission.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the torque converter seals bolts to 3 N·m (26 lb in).

  6. Install the torque converter (1) to the transmission. Push the torque converter into position while rotating. The torque converter must be fully seated.
  7. Install the transmission. Refer to Two-Wheel-Drive Transmission Replacement or to Four-Wheel-Drive Transmission Replacement .
