The double tube type
tilt steering column includes the following three functions in addition to
the steering function:
In order to ensure the energy-absorbing action, use only the specified
bolts and nuts and tighten to the specified torque. Apply a thin layer of
grease to all friction points during assembly. Carefully handle the column
during removal. Using a steering wheel puller other than the recommended,
or dropping/striking/leaning on the column, can shear or loosen the plastic
fasteners that keep the column rigid.
The turn signal and headlamp and windshield wiper and windshield washer
switch with levers and the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil
can be serviced as a unit. The switch consists of the following components:
