  1. Insert the compact disc (CD).
  2. Inspect the CD changer for the following conditions:
  3. • Skipping
    • Muting

Do either of these conditions exist?

Go to Step 4

Inspect the compact disc for the following conditions:

    • Proper insertion
    • Scratches
    • Dirt
    • Finger prints

Clean the disc, if necessary.

Does the CD changer operate properly?

Go to Step 12

  1. Verify whether the vehicle's usual route is over a rough road or a dirt road. If so, the condition may be normal.
  2. Test the condition when driving over a good road surface.

Some discs may contain marks that are not readily visible. One track or the entire disc may be unplayable.

Test the CD changer using a known good compact disc.

Inspect the CD changer for the following conditions:

    • ERR display
    • Disc ejection

Do either of the above conditions exist?

Go to Step 8

  1. Inspect the disc for the following conditions which may cause ejection or ERR to display:
  2. • Inserted upside down
    • Dirty
    • Badly scratched
    • Wet
  3. Inspect the disc for moisture condensation. This may be caused by inserting a cold disc into a hot player. Allow up to an hour in order to evaporate condensation.
  4. Very high internal temperatures may cause the disc to eject.

Verify the above conditions and correct any problems you find.

Check the operation of the CD changer with a known good compact disc.

Fault is with the compact disc. Replace the faulty compact disc.

Is the replacement complete?
