Instrument Cluster
The instrument cluster
includes the following gauges:
• | The engine tachometer (14) |
• | The fuel/engine coolant temperature gauge (5,6) |
Refer to
Speedometer Replacement
,
Instrument Cluster Replacement
and
Fuel/Temperature Gage Replacement
for the removal and installation procedures.
Important: When replacing a speedometer or an odometer assembly, the law requires
the odometer reading of the replacement unit to be set to register the same
mileage as the prior odometer.
If the same mileage cannot be set, then the law requires the following
actions to take place:
• | Set the replacement odometer at zero |
• | Install a label on the driver's door frame showing the following
information: |
• | The previous odometer reading |
• | The date of replacement |
The speedometer (9) consists of a trip odometer and a total mileage
odometer. The vehicle speed sensor provides the vehicle speed information
to the PCM. The speedometer, trip odometer and the total mileage odometer
are serviceable as a unit only. The speedometer unit however is serviceable
separate from the instrument cluster.
The instrument cluster includes the following indicators:
• | CRUISE (2), if equipped |
• | ABS (3), if the vehicle is equipped with an antilock brake
system |
• | O/D OFF (7), if the vehicle is equipped with the
4-speed A/T |
• | POWER (8) , if the vehicle is equipped with the 4-speed
A/T |
• | SERVICE ENGINE SOON (18) |
The indicators are serviceable from the rear of the instrument cluster.
Refer to
Instrument Cluster Bulb Replacement
for the instrument cluster lamp removal and installation
procedures. The instrument cluster indicators may differ slightly from
model to model, depending on the options.
