Did you review the audible warnings circuit operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Symptoms - Instrument Panel, Gages and Console in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console

  1. Turn ON the ignition.
  2. Buckle the seat belt.
  3. Observe the seat belt indicator.
  4. Unbuckle the seat belt.
  5. Observe the seat belt indicator.

Did the indicator and chime operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Does the chime operate with the indicator off?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

Test the seat belt indicator control circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 6

Replace the multifunction alarm. Refer to Multifunction Alarm Module Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 7

Replace the seat belt switch. Refer to Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Left Front .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
