Verify that the oil gauge indicator is inoperative.

Does the oil gauge indicator operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector.
  2. Connect a J 36169-A fused jumper from the oil pressure switch connector to chassis ground.

Does the oil pressure indicator light?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Replace the oil pressure switch.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 8

  1. Disconnect the instrument panel cluster assembly connector C2.
  2. Test for a short to ground or open condition.
  3. Test the YEL/BLK wire from cavity 3 to the oil pressure switch.

Is a short to ground or open condition present?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 7

Repair the open in the YEL/BLK wire between the instrument panel cluster assembly and the oil pressure switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair or replace the instrument panel cluster printed circuit. Refer to Printed Instrument Cluster Circuit Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
