Verify that the tires hop or that the vehicle handles poorly.

Is the customer's concern present?

Inspect the tires for uneven wear or damage. Refer to Tire Diagnosis - Irregular or Premature Wear in Tires and Wheels.

Do the tires require replacement?

Go to Step 7

Inspect the tires and wheels for missing wheel weights.

Are the wheel weights missing?

Go to Step 8

Inspect the tires and wheels for excessive runout. Refer to Tire and Wheel Assembly Runout Measurement - On-Vehicle in Vibration Diagnosis and Correction.

Does the tire and wheel have excessive runout?

Inspect the front struts and the rear shocks for wear or damage. Refer to Suspension Strut and Shock Absorber Testing - On Vehicle .

Are the components worn or damaged?

Replace the tire or the wheel as necessary. Refer to Tire Mounting and Dismounting in Tires and Wheels.

Balance the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Assembly Balancing - Off Vehicle in Vibration Diagnosis and Correction.
