- Apply wheel bearing lubricant, GM P/N 1051344, (Canadian P/N 993037)
or equivalent, to the oil seal lip.
- Apply DEXRON® - III Automatic Transmission Fluid, GM P/N 12346143,
(Canadian P/N 10952622) or equivalent, to the sliding surface
of the shaft (1).
- Insert the pulley's shaft from the oil seal side of the pump
body (2).
- Apply DEXRON® - III Automatic Transmission Fluid, GM P/N 12346143,
(Canadian P/N 10952622) or equivalent, to the O-rings and fit
the O-rings (1,2) to the pump body.
- Install the side plate (1) to the pump body. Carefully align
the dowel pins on the side plate with the bolt hole (2).
- Apply DEXRON® - III Automatic Transmission Fluid, GM P/N 12346143,
(Canadian P/N 10952622) or equivalent, to the sliding surface
of the rotor (2).
- Place the rotor with the dot (1) side facing upward. Install
the rotor to the shaft (3).
Important: Do not reuse old snap rings.
- Install a new snap ring to the shaft (3), fitting the snap ring
securely into the shaft groove.
- Apply DEXRON® - III Automatic Transmission Fluid, GM P/N 12346143,
(Canadian P/N 10952622) or equivalent, to the sliding surface
of the cam ring (1).
- Install the cam ring to the pump body. Place the tapered end of
the cam ring facing the side plate (2).
- Apply DEXRON® -
III Automatic Transmission Fluid, GM P/N 12346143, (Canadian P/N 10952622)
or equivalent, to each vane (2).
- Install 10 vanes to the rotor (1).
- Install the snap ring to the pump shaft.
- Apply DEXRON® - III Automatic Transmission Fluid, GM P/N 12346143,
(Canadian P/N 10952622) or equivalent, to the O-ring (1).
- Install the O-ring to the pump body.
- Apply DEXRON® - III Automatic Transmission Fluid, GM P/N 12346143,
(Canadian P/N 10952622) or equivalent, to the sliding surface
of the pump cover (2) and the rotor.
- Match the dowel pins (3,4) to the holes of the cover plate
and install the pump cover to the pump body.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install 4 pump cover bolts (1,2,3,4) to the pump cover (5).
Tighten
Gradually tighten the pump cover bolts to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
- Apply DEXRON® - III Automatic Transmission Fluid, GM P/N 12346143,
(Canadian P/N 10952622) or equivalent, to the O-ring of the
pressure switch (1).
- Install the pressure switch to the pump body (2).
Tighten
Tighten the pressure switch to 28 N·m (20 lb ft).
- Apply DEXRON® -
III Automatic Transmission Fluid, GM P/N 12346143, (Canadian P/N 10952622)
or equivalent, to the relief valve.
- Install the relief valve to the pump body (1).
- Install the flow control spring.
- Apply DEXRON® - III Automatic Transmission Fluid, GM P/N 12346143,
(Canadian P/N 10952622) or equivalent, to the O-rings of the
plug.
- Install the O-rings to the plug (2).
Tighten
Tighten the plug to 60 N·m (43.5 lb ft).
- Apply DEXRON® - III Automatic Transmission Fluid, GM P/N 12346143,
(Canandian P/N 10952622) or equivalent, to the O-ring (2)
of the suction connector (1).
- Install the O-ring to the suction connector.
- Install the power steering gear outlet hose connector (1) to
the pump body (2).
Tighten
Tighten the power steering gear outlet hose connector bolts (3)
to 10 N·m (88.5 lb in).
- Install the power steering pump to the vehicle. Refer to
