    • J 39032 Stationary Glass Removal Tool
    • Urethane Adhesive Kit GM P/N 12346392 or Equivalent
    • Isopropyl Alcohol or Equivalent
    • Cartridge-type Caulking Gun
    • Commercial-type Utility Knife
    • Razor Blade Scraper
    • Suction Cups
    • Plastic Paddle

Removal Procedure

    Important: Before cutting out a stationary window, apply a double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim.

  1. Gently pull loose and remove the windshield garnish molding from the vehicle.
  2. Caution: If broken glass falls into the defroster outlets, it can be blown into the passenger compartment and cause personal injury.

  3. Cover to protect the following parts from broken glass:
  4. 2.1. Upper dash pad
    2.2. Defroster outlets and A/C outlets
    2.3. Seats and carpeting
  5. Remove the inside rearview mirror. Refer to Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement .
  6. Remove the windshield wiper arms. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement in Wipers/Washer System.
  7. Remove the air inlet grille. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement in Body Front End.

    Caution: When working with any type of glass or sheet metal with exposed or rough edges, wear approved safety glasses and gloves in order to reduce the chance of personal injury.

  9. Turn the windshield support (3) along the bottom of the windshield (2) counterclockwise.
  10. Gently pry and remove the windshield supports (3) from the cowl.

    Important: 

       • The windshield reveal molding (1) fills the cavities between the body and windshield.
       •  If the windshield reveal molding is stretched or damaged, it cannot be reused.

  11. Remove the windshield reveal molding (1). Refer to Windshield Reveal Molding Replacement .

  12. Object Number: 379905  Size: SH
  13. Grasp the lower corner of the windshield reveal molding by hand and slowly pull the reveal molding away from the windshield.
  14. If the window reveal molding will not release, use a utility knife in order to cut around the windshield in order to remove the window reveal molding.

  15. Object Number: 379881  Size: SH

    Important: Keep the cutting edge of the tool against the window.

  16. This will allow the urethane adhesive to be separated from the window.
  17. • Leave a base of urethane on the pinchweld flange.
    • The only suitable lubrication is clear water.
    • UseJ 24402-A , J 39032 or equivalent in order to remove the window.

  18. Gently unseat the windshield retainer-male end (3) on the windshield (4) from the windshield retainer-female end (2) on the body.

  19. Object Number: 441419  Size: SH
  20. With the aid of an assistant (2) and suction cups, remove the windshield (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install a stationary window into the opening. Refer to Adhesive Installation of Stationary Windows .
  2. Install the windshield garnish molding to the vehicle. Ensure that the plastic retainers are completely engaged.
  3. Install the inside rearview mirror. Refer to Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement .
  4. Install the air inlet grille. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  5. Install the windshield wiper arms. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
  6. Remove the double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim.
