Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.

Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 470168  Size: SH
  1. Clean around the reservoir cap and remove fluid with a syringe or equivalent.
  2. Disconnect the brake pipes (1) from the proportioning valve (3).
  3. Remove the proportioning valve bolt.
  4. Remove the proportioning valve bracket bolt.
  5. Important: Do NOT disassemble the proportioning valve assembly.

  6. Remove the proportioning valve.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 470168  Size: SH
  1. Install the proportioning valve (3) and the 2 bolts.
  2. Tighten

        • Tighten the proportioning valve bracket bolt to 10 N·m (88.5 lb in).
        • Tighten the proportioning valve bolt to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
  3. Install the brake pipes to the proportioning valve.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the flare nuts (1) to 16 N·m (11.8 lb ft).

  5. Fill the brake fluid reservoir. Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling .
  6. Bleed the air from the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
