  1. Clean the sealing surfaces on the timing chain housing, the cylinder head, the oil pan, the engine block and the lower crankcase.
  2. Inspect the front crank seal. Replace as necessary. Refer to Crankshaft Front Oil Seal Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 468068  Size: MH
  4. Apply a continuous bead of sealant, GM P/N 12345997, Canadian P/N 12345997 or equivalent, to the following:
  5. • The cylinder head-engine block mating points (2).
    • The timing cover mating surface (1).
  6. Lubricate the new crankshaft front oil seal with Chassis Grease, GM P/N 1051344, Canadian P/N 993037 or equivalent.
  7. Install the dowel pin to the timing chain housing.

  8. Object Number: 466308  Size: SH
  9. Install the timing chain housing. Secure with the nut and 15 bolts.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the nut and bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).
