Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Replacement 2.5L Engine

Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
  3. Remove the radiator inlet hose. Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement .
  4. Remove the radiator outlet hose. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement .

  6. Remove the heater hose (1) from the thermostat housing (2).

  7. Object Number: 723900  Size: SH
  8. Remove the bypass hoses (1).

  9. Object Number: 723901  Size: SH
  10. Remove the thermostat housing bolts (1) and the thermostat housing (2).

Installation Procedure

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.


    Object Number: 723901  Size: SH
  1. Install the thermostat housing (2) and the thermostat housing bolts (1).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the thermostat housing bolts to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  3. Install the bypass hoses (1).

  5. Install the heater hose (1) to the thermostat housing (2).
  6. Install the radiator outlet hose. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement .
  7. Install the radiator inlet hose. Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement .
  8. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
  9. Refill the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
