The door locks, lock cylinders and hinges require periodic lubrication. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations in Maintenance and Lubrication for lubrication intervals and types of lubricants.
The rear door child security lock is incorporated into the rear door lock assembly on four-door models. This feature is designed to prevent children from opening the rear doors from inside the vehicle. The child security lock is engaged and disengaged with a switch (1) built into the lock assembly (3). With the switch (1) engaged, the rear side door can be opened only by using the rear door outside handle. When the switch is disengaged, the rear side door can be opened by either the inside or the outside door handle. The rear door child security lock is serviced as part of the lock assembly (3), not separately.
