Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 487667  Size: SH
  1. Remove the front fender liner. Refer to Fender Liner Replacement .
  2. Remove the antenna retaining nut and bezel. Refer to Radio Antenna Replacement .
  3. Remove the rocker molding, if equipped. Refer to Rocker Panel Molding Replacement .
  4. Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.

  5. Remove the rear front fender lower mounting bolt (2) which secures the fender (1).

  6. Object Number: 487676  Size: SH
  7. Gently push down on the front bumper fascia (3) in order to gain access to fender lower mounting bolt (2).
  8. Remove the fender lower mounting bolt (2) which secures the fender (1).

  9. Object Number: 487672  Size: SH
  10. Open the front door in order to gain access to the fender to door jamb mounting bolt (1).
  11. Remove the fender to door jamb mounting bolt (1) which secures the fender (2).

  12. Object Number: 487670  Size: SH
  13. Remove the following components from the vehicle:
  14. 8.1. The 3 mounting bolts (1)
    8.2. The front fender (2)

    Important: Use care not to gouge or damage the body or paint when removing the mound of adhesive.

  15. Using a flat bladed tool or scraper gently remove the mound of adhesive (2) located below the windshield pillar (1) from the body

Installation Procedure

    Important: Application of a mound of urethane is essential in order to achieve proper height of this area of the fender and provide stability.

  1. Apply a 15 mm (0.59 in) mound of an OEM approved windshield urethane adhesive or equivalent (2) in the same spot where the previous mound was removed from on the body.

  2. Object Number: 487670  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the front fender (2) to the vehicle. Secure the fender with 3 mounting bolts (1) along the top of the fender (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fender upper mounting bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  5. Install the fender to door jamb mounting bolt (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fender to door jamb mounting bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  7. Close the front door.

  8. Object Number: 487676  Size: SH
  9. Gently push down on the front bumper fascia (3) in order to gain access to install the fender lower mounting bolt (2).
  10. Install the fender lower mounting bolt (2).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the fender lower mounting bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  12. Install the rear front fender lower mounting bolt (2).
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the rear front fender lower mounting bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  14. Install the front fender liner. Refer to Fender Liner Replacement .
  15. Inspect the front fender (1) for proper clearance, flushness, and alignment. Refer to Body Front End Adjustment Specifications and Door Adjustment Specifications in Doors.
  16. Install rocker panel molding, if removed. Refer to Rocker Panel Molding Replacement .
  17. Install antenna retaining nut and bezel. Refer to Radio Antenna Replacement .
