2.0 2.5 L34 LE8 Lifter Tick after Block or Cylinder Head Replacement

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Lifter tick or rattle noise after engine partial assembly or cylinder head replacement

1. Check for a missing encapsulated check valve in the new block or the new cylinder head. If the check valve is missing from the new block or new cylinder head, transfer the valve(s) from the original engine block or cylinder head(s).
2. For the 2.0L engine, the check valve is located at the front of the engine block and the front of the cylinder head.
3. For the 2.5L engine, the check valve is located at the rear of the engine block at each bank and the front of the cylinder head at each bank.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
