The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.
Condition/Concern:
No forward movement in drive or manual second range, normal operation in manual first range.
Recommendation/Instructions:
The one-way clutch number 2 has to hold in the drive and manual second ranges, if the one-way clutch number 2 freewheels in both directions, no forward movement will result. When the manual first range is selected the reverse brake is applied supporting/holding the one-way clutch number 2. Inspect the one-way clutch number 2 for freewheeling in both directions. See eSI Document ID # 474138 for unit repair instructions. eSI only refers to the one-way clutch number 2 as the one-way clutch. This one-way clutch is the larger one in diameter and most rearward one-way device in the transmission.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
