SERVICE VME

Hello, this dealer service voicemail is applicable to the 2003 model year Chevrolet Tracker in which the topic will involve the automatic transmission and specifically an observation of low transmission fluid on the dipstick. It is our understanding that beginning Monday, the 29th of July, the 2003 model year units will begin shipment to the dealer body throughout the country for commerce. Recently the assembly plant has advised Brand Quality that during the PDI process should the technician notice that the transmission fluid level be within the lower portion of the operating range or even slightly below it that it still consider it a normal condition and within the operating range for the component. They further advise that topping off the transmission fluid is not recommended as this may create an overfill condition within the assembly and create further transmission concerns and problems. Currently we are not comfortable with this position and further discussions are ongoing with the team to see if this concern can be corrected. I would like to request that if you do encounter this concern, please file a product report using the product reporting process so they may use this in our discussions. This is Bill Denton, Brand Quality Manager for the Chevrolet Tracker. Thank you.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
