Removal Procedure
The fuel pump and the fuel level sensor are integral parts of the fuel sender assembly. In order to service the fuel pump or the fuel level sensor, replace the fuel sender assembly.
- Remove the fuel tank. Refer to
Fuel Tank Replacement
.
- Disconnect the fuel supply line (2) from the fuel sender assembly.
- Disconnect the fuel return line (1) from the fuel sender assembly.
- Disconnect the electrical connector (4) from the fuel sender assembly.
- Remove the 6 bolts (3) retaining the fuel sender assembly .
- Remove the fuel sender assembly (1).
- Remove fuel sender assembly gasket (2).
Installation Procedure
- Install a new fuel sender assembly gasket (2).
- Install the fuel sender assembly (1) into the fuel tank.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Secure the fuel sender assembly (1) with the 6 bolts (3).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 5 N·m (60 lb in).
- Connect the return fuel line (1) to the fuel sender assembly.
- Connect the fuel supply line (2) to the fuel sender assembly.
- Connect the electrical connector (4) to the fuel sender assembly.
- Install the fuel tank. Refer to
