Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement w/o ORVR
Removal Procedure
Notice: The EVAP canister may have released carbon particles which caused this
part to fail and may cause damage to other components. Check the EVAP canister
for loose carbon before returning the vehicle to service.
- Disconnect the purge hose (4)
from the EVAP canister purge valve.
- Disconnect the intake manifold purge hose (5) from the EVAP canister
purge valve.
- Disconnect the electrical connector (3) from the EVAP canister
purge valve .
- Remove the EVAP canister purge valve and the bracket (1)
from the engine.
- Remove the purge valve retaining nut (2).
- Remove the EVAP canister purge valve from the bracket.
- Inspect the EVAP canister purge valve and the EVAP purge system
for carbon particle contamination before replacing the EVAP canister purge
valve. Refer to
Evaporative Emission System Cleaning
.
Installation Procedure
- Inspect the EVAP purge system for carbon particle contamination
before replacing the EVAP canister purge valve. Refer to
Evaporative Emission System Cleaning
.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the EVAP
canister purge valve to the EVAP canister purge valve bracket and secure with
the nut (2).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 1.6 N·m (14 lb in).
- Connect the electrical connector (3) to the EVAP canister
purge valve .
- Connect the intake manifold purge hose (5) to the EVAP
canister purge valve.
- Connect the EVAP canister purge hose (4) to the EVAP canister
purge valve.
