Removal Procedure

    Caution: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the four bolts (3) and the fuel tank shield (4) from the vehicle.

  4. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the hose (1) from the EVAP canister air filter (2).
  5. Remove the fastener (3) that attaches the EVAP canister air filter (2) to the vehicle chassis.

  7. Twist and pull the EVAP canister air filter (1) in order to remove the canister from the grommet (2) in the frame rail.
  8. Remove the EVAP canister air filter (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Push and twist the EVAP canister air filter (1) in order to the insert the canister into the grommet (2) in the frame rail.

  2. Object Number: 715311  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Secure the EVAP canister air filter (2) to the chassis with the fastener (3)
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fastener to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Connect the hose (1) to the EVAP canister air filter (2) and secure with the clamp.

  6. Object Number: 55178  Size: SH
  7. Install the fuel tank shield (4) to the vehicle and secure with the four bolts (3).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  9. Lower the vehicle.
