J 8614-01 Flange and Pulley Holding Tool

Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  2. Remove the power steering pump drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Air Conditioning Compressor and Power Steering .
  3. Remove the cooling fan drive belt. Refer to Fan and Generator Belt Replacement .
  4. Remove the cooling fan. Refer to Fan Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  5. Remove the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.

    Important: Do not damage the A/C condenser, if equipped, during crankshaft balancer service.

  7. Remove the crankshaft balancer retaining bolt using the J 8614-01 to prevent crankshaft rotation when loosening the bolt.

  9. The crankshaft may also be held by locking the flywheel through the access hole.
  10. Remove the crankshaft balancer.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the crankshaft balancer onto the crankshaft indexing the keyway.

  2. Object Number: 711379  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the crankshaft balancer retaining bolt using the J 8614-01 to prevent crankshaft rotation when tightening the bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 150 N·m (108.5 lb ft).

  5. Install the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  6. Install the cooling fan drive belt. Refer to Fan and Generator Belt Replacement .
  7. Install the power steering drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Air Conditioning Compressor and Power Steering .
  8. Install the cooling fan. Refer to Fan Replacement in Engine Cooling.
