  1. Start the engine.
  2. Run the engine to normal operating temperature.
  3. Inspect that the engine idle speed is 625-725 RPM. If the idle speed is not 625-725 RPM, refer to Minimum Idle Speed Inspection/Adjustment .

  5. With the throttle valve closed, measure the accelerator pedal free play (1). The accelerator pedal free play clearance is 2-7 mm (0.08-0.27 in). If the pedal free play is 2-7 mm (0.08-0.27 in), go to Step 9.

  7. Loosen the accelerator cable locknut (3).
  8. Turn the accelerator cable adjusting nut (2) in order to obtain 2-7 mm (0.08-0.27 in) of accelerator pedal free play.
  9. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10. Tighten the accelerator cable locknut (3).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the locknut to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  12. Repeat Step 4 through Step 8 until the accelerator pedal free play is 2-7 mm (0.08-0.27 in).

  14. With the accelerator pedal fully depressed, measure the clearance (2) between the throttle lever (3) and the throttle stop (1). The accelerator cable end play clearance is 0.5-2.0 mm (0.02-0.07 in).

  15. Object Number: 614096  Size: SH
  16. Adjust the height of the accelerator pedal stop (1) in order to obtain 0.5-2.0 mm (0.02-0.07 in) of accelerator cable end play.
