Power Steering Gear Outlet Pipe/Hose Replacement 2.0L

Removal Procedure

  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle in order to catch any escaping fluid.

  2. Object Number: 461756  Size: SH

    Important: The power steering gear outlet hose connects the steering gear to the power steering fluid reservoir inlet pipe.

  3. Loosen the hose clamp (4) for the power steering gear outlet hose at the steering gear housing.
  4. Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Remove the power steering gear outlet hose (3) from the steering gear housing.

  6. Object Number: 738069  Size: SH
  7. Loosen the hose clamp at the power steering reservoir inlet pipe (6).
  8. Remove the power steering gear outlet hose (5) from the power steering reservoir inlet pipe.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 738069  Size: SH
  1. Install the power steering gear outlet hose (5) and the hose clamp to the power steering reservoir inlet pipe (6).

  2. Object Number: 461756  Size: SH
  3. Install the power steering gear outlet hose (3) and the hose clamp (4) to the steering gear.
  4. Notice: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Add power steering fluid to the reservoir. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  6. Notice: Refer to Air in the Power Steering System Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Power Steering Gear Outlet Pipe/Hose Replacement 2.5L

Removal Procedure

  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle in order to catch any escaping fluid.

  3. Loosen the hose clamp (4) for the power steering gear outlet hose at the steering gear housing.
  4. Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Remove the power steering gear outlet hose (3) from the steering gear housing.

  6. Object Number: 738073  Size: SH
  7. Loosen the hose clamp at the power steering reservoir inlet pipe (6).
  8. Remove the power steering gear outlet hose (5) from the power steering reservoir inlet pipe.

  1. Install the power steering gear outlet hose (5) and the hose clamp to the power steering reservoir inlet pipe (6).

  2. Object Number: 461756  Size: SH
  3. Install the power steering gear outlet hose (3) and the hose clamp (4) to the steering gear.
  4. Notice: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Add power steering fluid to the reservoir. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  6. Notice: Refer to Air in the Power Steering System Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
