Power Steering Pump Bracket Replacement 2.0L
Removal Procedure
- Remove the power steering pump drive belt from the power steering pump
pulley. Refer to
Generator and Air Conditioning Compressor and Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement
in Engine Mechanical - 2.0L.
- Remove the 3 bolts and the power
steering pump (3) from the power steering pump bracket (4).
- Move the power steering pump away from the power steering pump bracket.
- Remove the bolt and the generator from the power steering pump bracket.
- Move the generator away from the power steering pump bracket.
- Remove the 3 bolts and the power steering pump bracket from the
engine block.
Installation Procedure
Important: Do not tighten the 3 bolts to the final specification yet. The upper
bolt (1) and the rear bolt (2) control the plane of the bracket.
- Install the power steering pump bracket and the 3 bolts (1,2,3)
to the engine block.
- If the bracket DOES NOT have a dowel pin engaged into a hole in the block,
complete the following steps:
2.1. | Push the bracket toward the rear of the engine. |
2.2. | With rearward pressure on the bracket, tighten the bolt (3) snug. |
2.3. | Tighten the bolt (1) snug. |
2.4. | Tighten the bolt (2) snug. |
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Tighten the bolts that retain the power steering pump bracket to the engine
block.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18.5 lb ft).
- Install the generator and the bolt to the power steering pump bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
- Install the power steering pump and the 3 bolts to the power steering
pump bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18.5 lb ft).
- Install the power steering pump drive belt. Refer to

in Engine Mechanical - 2.0L.
Power Steering Pump Bracket Replacement 2.5L
Removal Procedure
- Remove the power steering fluid reservoir (1)
from the reservoir bracket (8).
- Remove the power steering drive belt and the tensioner. Refer
to
Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement
in Engine Mechanical -- 2.5L.
- Remove the 3 bolts that retain the power steering pump (3)
to the bracket (7).
- Move the power steering pump to the side.
- Remove the 2 bolts and the bracket from the engine block.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the power steering pump bracket (7) to the engine block.
Install the 2 bolts in order to retain the bracket to the engine block.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
- Install the 3 bolts in order to retain the power steering
pump (3) to the bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18.5 lb ft).
- Install the tensioner and the power steering drive belt. Refer
to
Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement
in Engine Mechanical -- 2.5L.
