Air Conditioning Compressor Bracket Replacement 2.0L

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the cooling fan drive belt. Refer to Generator and Air Conditioning Compressor and Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
  3. Remove the 2 bolts (1) and the cooling fan drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement - Cooling Fan in Engine Mechanical.
  4. Remove the A/C compressor and position aside. Do not discharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement .

  5. Object Number: 640789  Size: SH
  6. Remove the 4 bolts (2) and the A/C compressor mounting bracket from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 640789  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the A/C compressor mounting bracket to the vehicle. Secure the bracket with the 4 bolts (2).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the 4 bolts to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  3. Install the A/C compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement .
  4. Install the cooling fan drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement - Cooling Fan in Engine Mechanical.
  5. Install the cooling fan drive belt. Refer to Generator and Air Conditioning Compressor and Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.

Air Conditioning Compressor Bracket Replacement 2.5L

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the power steering pump and A/C compressor drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Air Conditioning Compressor and Power Steering in Engine Mechanical - 2.5 L.
  3. Disconnect the power steering Pressure switch connector.
  4. Remove the 3 bolts from the power steering pump and position the pump out of the way.
  5. Disconnect the compressor clutch electrical connector.

  7. Remove the 3 bolts (1) that secure the A/C compressor and position the compressor aside.
  8. Remove the 4 bolts and the A/C compressor mounting bracket from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the A/C compressor mounting bracket to the vehicle. Secure the bracket with the 4 bolts.

  3. Install the compressor to the vehicle. Secure the compressor with the 3 bolts (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the compressor mounting bolts to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  5. Connect the compressor clutch electrical connector.
  6. Install the power steering pump and secure with the 3 bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump bolts to 25 N·m (18.5 lb ft).

  8. Connect the power steering Pressure switch connector.
  9. Install the power steering pump and A/C compressor drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Air Conditioning Compressor and Power Steering in Engine Mechanical - 2.5 L.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
