Removal Procedure

    Caution: When you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, you must disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause air bag deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector.
  3. Remove the PCM. Refer to Powertrain Control Module Replacement in Engine Controls - 1.6 L or Powertrain Control Module Replacement in Engine Controls 2.0 L or Powertrain Control Module Replacement in Engine Controls - 2.5 L.

  4. Object Number: 589695  Size: SH
  5. Remove 3 screws and the blower motor and fan (4) from the blower case.
  6. If necessary to remove the blower case, refer to Heater Case Replacement .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 589695  Size: SH
  1. Install the blower motor and fan (4) to the blower case. Secure the blower motor with 3 screws.
  2. Install the PCM. Refer to Powertrain Control Module Replacement in Engine Controls - 1.6 L or Powertrain Control Module Replacement in Engine Controls 2.0 L or Powertrain Control Module Replacement in Engine Controls - 2.5 L.
  3. Connect the blower motor electrical connector.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.
