Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Support the transmission with a suitable hydraulic jack.
  3. Disconnect the VSS.

  4. Object Number: 627871  Size: SH
  5. Remove the  2 bolts (2)  from the rear transmission mount (1).
  6. Remove the 4 bolts and the rear transmission crossmember from the vehicle.

  7. Object Number: 627870  Size: SH
  8. Remove 1 bolt and the rear transmission mount (2) from the extension case (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 627870  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the rear transmission mount (2) to the extension case (1). Secure with 1 bolt.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the rear transmission mount bolt to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).

  3. Install the rear transmission crossmember to the vehicle. Secure with 4 bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the rear transmission crossmember bolts to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).

  5. Install the 2 bolts (2) to the rear transmission mount.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the rear transmission mount bolts (2) to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).

  7. Connect the VSS  (2).
  8. Remove the hydraulic jack from underneath the transmission.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
