- Inspect the timing chain
guides for cracking or wear.
- Replace the timing chain guides if wear exceeds 1.0 mm
(0.039 in).
- Inspect the camshaft and crankshaft timing chains for elongation
wear.
- Inspect the camshaft sprocket
teeth for signs of excessive wear, chipping (2), or seizure of the timing
chain links.
- Inspect the crankshaft sprocket for wear.
- Inspect the camshaft tensioner for wear. The plunger movement
should be firm and smooth when pressed inward.
- Inspect the crankshaft tensioner for wear. Inspect that the latch
teeth are not damaged and that the latch functions properly.
- Replace any component that shows signs of wear or damage.
