For 1990-2009 cars only
- Remove the lower crankcase (1-12) and the main bearing cap (13-22) bolts in the sequence shown.
- Carefully pry the lower crankcase apart from the cylinder block using a screwdriver.
- Carefully remove the lower crankcase with the lower bearing inserts.
- Remove the crankshaft and the oil pump drive chain from the cylinder block.
- Remove the bearing inserts from the block.
Important: Do not gouge the sealing surfaces of the two halves of the cylinder block during disassembly.
Notice: Remove the crankshaft carefully in order to avoid damaging the crankshaft journals, the rod, the main bearing inserts, or the connecting rods.
