Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 711377  Size: SH
  1. Remove the oil level indicator tube bolt (1).
  2. Remove the oil level indicator and tube (2).
  3. Remove the power steering gear. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement in Power Steering System.
  4. Remove the front axle housing, 4WD only. Refer to Front Axle Housing Replacement in Front Drive Axle.
  5. Drain the engine oil.
  6. Remove the 2 nuts and the 8 bolts from the lower oil pan.

  7. Object Number: 648671  Size: SH
  8. Separate the lower oil pan (2) from the upper oil pan (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 648747  Size: SH
  1. Apply sealant (1) to the lower oil pan.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the lower oil pan to the upper oil pan and secure with the 8 bolts and 2 nuts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts and nuts to 11 N·m (8.0 lb ft).

  5. Install the drain plug to the oil pan.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 35 N·m (25.5 lb ft).

  7. Install the front axle housing, 4WD only. Refer to Front Axle Housing Replacement in Front Drive Axle.
  8. Install the power steering gear. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement in Power Steering System.

  9. Object Number: 711377  Size: SH
  10. Install the oil level indicator and tube (2) with a new O-ring.
  11. Secure with the bolt (1).
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 11 N·m (8.0 lb ft).

  13. Fill engine with oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  14. Check front wheel alignment.
