Removal Procedure
- Allow the engine to cool down.
- Remove the two fasteners attaching the EGR pipe (5) to the underside
of the intake collector (1).
- Remove the two fasteners attaching the EGR pipe (5) to the bank 2
exhaust manifold (4).
- Remove the upper gasket (2) and the lower gasket (3).
- Remove the fastener to the EGR pipe bracket.
- Remove the EGR pipe (5).
- Clean any remaining gasket material from both contact surfaces.
Installation Procedure
- Install the EGR pipe (5) with a new upper gasket (2) to
the intake collector (1).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Secure the EGR pipe (5)
to the intake collector (1) with the 2 fasteners.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
- Install the EGR pipe (5) with a new gasket (3) to
the exhaust manifold (4).
- Secure the EGR pipe (5) to the exhaust manifold with the
2 fasteners.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
- Install the fastener to the EGR pipe bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the fastener to 10 N·m (88 lb in).
- Start the engine and check for exhaust leaks.
- Repair as necessary.
