  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. Attempt to move the selector lever out of the PARK position. The selector lever should not move out of the PARK position.
  3. Depress the brake pedal.
  4. Attempt to move the manual selector out of the PARK position. The selector lever should move out of the PARK position.

Does the shift lock control operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Exchange the shift lock relay with a known good relay (the horn relay or the compressor relay).
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  3. Depress the brake pedal.
  4. Attempt to move the manual selector from the PARK position.

Does the shift lock control operate properly?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Monitor the brake switch status in the transmission data list.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  4. Depress the brake pedal.

Does the brake switch status change to APPLIED when the brake pedal is depressed?
