Schematic Reference: Keyless Entry Schematics

DEFINITION: This table diagnoses the power door locks are operative using the power door lock switches and the remote keyless entry but can not sucessfully program the remote control door lock receiver.

Did you review the Transmitter Programming procedures and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Verify that the power doors work from the power door switches and from the Remote Keyless Entry Fob.

Do the door switches and the RKE Fob operate the door locks but the RKE Fob cannot be programmed?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Use a known functional transmitter in order to program the system. Refer to Transmitter Programming .
  2. Retest the keyless entry system.

Does the system respond properly?

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn the ignition to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the remote control door lock receiver connector. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement for access.
  3. Test for an open or short to ground condition between cavity L of the remote control door lock receiver and cavity 8 of the data link connector (DLC).

Was there an open or short to ground condition in the PNK/WHT wire?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 7

Repair the open or short to ground condition in the PNK/WHT wire between cavity L of the remote control door lock receiver and cavity 8 of the data link connector (DLC). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 8

  1. Replace the inoperative transmitter.
  2. Reprogram the remote control door lock receiver. Refer to Transmitter Programming .

Is the replacement complete?

Go to Step 8

Replace the remote control door lock receiver. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement .

Is the replacement complete?

Go to Step 8

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?
