Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 765116  Size: SH
  1. Remove the luggage carrier crossrails (1). Refer to Luggage Carrier Cross Rail Replacement .
  2. Remove the luggage carrier side rail caps (1) from the luggage carrier side rail (2).
  3. Remove collar (3) from luggage carrier side rail caps (1).
  4. Remove the 4 nuts that retain the luggage carrier side rail (2).
  5. Remove the luggage carrier side rail (2) from the roof (4).
  6. Remove the luggage carrier side rail base seals (5), if necessary.
  7. Repeat the procedure to remove the second luggage carrier side rail, if necessary.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the luggage carrier side rail base seals (5), if removed.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the luggage carrier side rail (2) to the roof (4). Secure the side rail with the 4 nuts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the luggage carrier side rail mounting nuts to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  5. Install new luggage carrier side rail cap collar (3) to the luggage carrier side rail cap (1).
  6. Install the luggage carrier side rail caps (1) to the luggage carrier side rail (2).
  7. Repeat the procedure to install the second luggage carrier side rail, if removed.
  8. Install the luggage carrier crossrails (1). Refer to Luggage Carrier Cross Rail Replacement .
