Opening the Front Folding Top
Caution: Do not open the folding top while the vehicle is in motion. Damage to
the vehicle or personal injury may result.
Caution: Before driving, ensure that the folding top is securely locked to the
windshield header or properly stowed. Failure to observe these guidelines
may result in personal injury or damage to the vehicle.
Important: The folding top is provided only to offer some protection against undesirable
weather conditions. It is not designed to hold occupants inside the vehicle
or to protect against the intrusion of foreign objects in the event
of an accident. Occupants should wear seat belts whenever traveling
in this vehicle.
Important: The following circumstances should be avoided if possible on vehicles
equipped with folding top:
• | Opening or closing the top when the temperature is below 5°C
(41°F). |
• | Taking the vehicle through an automatic car wash. |
• | Driving the vehicle when the top is not fully closed or fully
open. |
• | Opening the folding top when it is wet. Water trapped in the folding
may cause stains, mildew and damage to the inside of the vehicle. |
• | Opening the folding top when the rear flap or side windows are
dirty. Dirt could scratch the side windows. |
• | Sitting on or putting excessive weight on the folding top. |
- Lower the radio antenna.
- Swing the sunshades down in order to gain access to the folding
top latches (1).
- Push in the folding top latch buttons (2).
- Pull the latch (1) back.
- Unhook the latch (1) from the front top #1 bow.
Important: When folding back the front folding top material (2), ensure
that the material is not pinched between the front top #1 bow arms and the
roof rails.
- Lift the front top #1 bow (1) up and back while folding the front
folding top material (2) between the top bow and the roof support.
- Unfasten the holding strap (1)
from the roof support near the dome lamp and pull the strap through the slot (2)
in the front top #1 bow (3). Fasten the holding strap (1)
to itself.
- Push the folding top latches down until a click is heard.
- Return the sunshades back to their original position.
- Raise the radio antenna.
Opening the Rear Folding Top

- Remove the folding top
quarter windows. Refer to

.
- Unzip the folding top rear window and hang the window (1)
down inside the rear compartment area.
- Unsnap (1) the
front folding top material from the roof support (3), near the dome
lamp.
- Unsnap the rear folding
top material (2) from the roof support (3), near the dome lamp.
- Snap (1) the front
folding top material to the roof support (3), near the dome lamp.
- Push down on the folding
top #3 bow release button (1) on each side and tilt the base (2)
of the #3 bow (3) forward. This will remove the tension from the
rear folding top material.
- Detach the front of the
rear folding top material (2) by unhooking from the folding top side
body joint cover (1).
Important: When lowering the folding top #3 bow, ensure that the bow is not pinching
any part of the material or that the material is not obstructing the seat
belts.
- Lower the folding top #3 bow slowly while tucking the material into
the rear compartment area.
- Engage the folding top
#3 bow release latch (3) on each side by pushing down on the support
arms (2) at the hinges in order to secure the rear folding top material (1).
