Removal Procedure

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  2. Object Number: 468524 Size: SH
  3. Loosen the adjusting bolt (1) and the pivot bolt (3).
  4. Remove the tension on the fan belt by rotating the tension bolt (2) counterclockwise.

  5. Object Number: 465593 Size: SH
  6. Remove the 4 fan nuts (1). Use a second wrench to hold the fan shaft.
  7. Important: Do not damage the radiator when removing the fan.

  8. Detach the fan from the pulley hub and remove the fan belt.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 468524 Size: SH
  1. Install the fan belt while holding the fan away from the pulley hub.
  2. Install the fan to the hub.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the 4 fan nuts. Use a second wrench to hold the fan shaft.
  5. Tighten
Tighten the fan nuts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  6. Install the fan belt properly on the pulleys.
  7. Turn the tension bolt (2) clockwise in order to obtain the specified belt deflection (4) under 10 kg (22 lbs) of force.
  8. New Belt Deflection
    4-5 mm (0.16-0.20 in)

    Used Belt Deflection
    5-7 mm (0.20-0.27 in)

  9. Tighten the adjusting bolt (1) and the pivot bolt (3) while holding the correct tension on the fan belt.
  10. Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12. Tighten
Tighten the battery cable bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
