Engine Coolant Crossover Pipe Replacement 2.5L Engine

  1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement in Engine Mechanical.

  3. Object Number: 723733  Size: SH
  4. Remove the throttle body water outlet hose (1)
  5. Remove the outlet heater hose (3).
  6. Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector (4).
  7. Remove the bypass hoses (1).
  8. Remove 4 nuts and 2 bolts from the water crossover (2).

Installation Procedure

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install 4 nuts and 2 bolts from the water crossover (2).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the four nuts and two bolts to 12 N·m (12 lb ft).

  3. Install the bypass hoses (1).
  4. Connect the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector (4).
  5. Install the outlet heater hose (3).
  6. Install the throttle body water outlet hose (1).
  7. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
  8. Refill the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
