For 1990-2009 cars only
- Clean the sealing surfaces on the camshaft cover and the cylinder head.
- Apply GM P/N 12346240 or equivalent to the cylinder head at the points indicated (1).
- Install the new camshaft cover gasket to the camshaft cover.
- Install the new cylinder head side seals to the cylinder head.
- Install the camshaft cover (1) to the cylinder head.
- Using new seal washers (3), tighten the 4 nuts (2) on the camshaft cover (1).
- Install the ignition coils.
- Install the ignition coil cover.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 10.5 N·m (7.5 lb ft).
