Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 788728  Size: SH

    Notice: The EVAP canister may have released carbon particles which caused this part to fail and may cause damage to other components. Check the EVAP canister for loose carbon before returning the vehicle to service.

  1. Disconnect the purge hose (4) from the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve.
  2. Disconnect the intake manifold purge hose (5) from the EVAP canister purge valve.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector (3) from the EVAP canister purge valve .
  4. Remove the EVAP canister purge valve and the bracket (1) from the engine.
  5. Remove the purge valve retaining nut (2).
  6. Remove the EVAP canister purge valve from the bracket.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the EVAP canister purge valve to the EVAP canister purge valve bracket and secure with the nut (2).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 1.6 N·m (14 lb in).

  3. Connect the electrical connector (3) to the EVAP canister purge valve .
  4. Connect the intake manifold purge hose (5) to the EVAP canister purge valve.
  5. Connect the EVAP canister purge hose (4) to the EVAP canister purge valve.
