Removal Procedure

    Caution: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.

    Notice: The EVAP canister may have released carbon particles which caused this part to fail and may cause damage to other components. Check the EVAP canister for loose carbon before returning the vehicle to service.

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 739066  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the vapor hose (1) from the EVAP canister (2) by squeezing the connector as shown.

  4. Object Number: 741904  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the two hoses (1) from the EVAP canister (2).
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector of the EVAP canister vent solenoid.

  7. Object Number: 715482  Size: SH
  8. Remove the four fasteners and the EVAP canister bracket from the vehicle chassis.
  9. Remove the EVAP canister from the bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the EVAP canister to the bracket.
  2. Install the canister and bracket to the vehicle chassis.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Secure the canister and bracket to the vehicle with the four fasteners.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Connect the three hoses (1) to the EVAP canister (2).
  6. Connect the electrical connector of the EVAP canister vent solenoid.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
