Subject: | Noise From Instrument Panel Cluster Tachometer Noisy |
Models: | . |
When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
Some customers may comment about a noise from the instrument panel area while driving. The noise changes in relationship to the tachometer movement.
In some cases the instrument panel cluster is removed and replaced with an exchange unit and the problem is resolved. In other cases the exchange cluster has been reported to have the same noise level or worse. Delphi has completed testing of noisy instrument panel clusters and identified the tachometer stepper motor to be the source of the noise. Delphi will be working with the exchange centers to ensure noisy clusters are properly repaired when returned from the field for an exchange. Until this procedure is in place, there may be opportunity to receive a cluster with some level of noise back from the exchange centers. To help avoid this situation, it is recommended that you tell the exchange center you are trying to fix a noise concern when making the initial contact to order a cluster. Ask for an exchange cluster that has had a stepper motor replaced as a part of a repair. Receiving a cluster with a new stepper motor will help in obtaining an exchange cluster that has a noise level your customer will be satisfied with.
