Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 343641 Size: SH
  1. Apply the park brake lever.
  2. Remove the stoplamp switch. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Replacement.

    3. Note: The brake pedal pivot bolt must be replaced each time it is removed.

  3. Remove the brake pedal pivot bolt and nut.

    4. Discard the brake pedal pivot bolt.

  4. Remove the brake pedal.
  5. Inspect the brake pedal pivot bushing for damage or wear.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 343641 Size: SH
  1. If replacing a worn or damaged brake pedal pivot bushing, install a new bushing as follows:
    2. 1.1. Compress the end of the bushing which will be facing the brake pedal pivot nut.
    1.2. Install the bushing into the pivot hub far enough to hold the bushing in place.
    1.3. Press the bushing through the hub until the bushing is fully engaged.
  2. Install the brake pedal.
  3. Install the brake pedal pivot bolt and nut.

    4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  4. While holding the brake pedal pivot bolt stationary, tighten the nut to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
  5. Install the stoplamp switch. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Replacement.
