Preliminary Procedure

Remove the front grille. Refer to Grille Replacement .

Pal Nuts (Qty: 2)

Tip
Firmly secure the pal nuts to the emblem after installation.

Front Grille Nameplate Replacement (Bowtie)

Tip

  1. When removing protective liners from adhesive tape, be careful not to touch tape with hands and do not allow tape to come in contact with dirt or any foreign matter prior to adhesion.
  2. Use a J 25070 or equivalent to remove the old nameplate. Clean all adhesive from front grille, wipe the surface dry with a clean lint-free towel prior to installing the new nameplate.

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement.
  2. Place the grille on a clean, prepared surface.

    3. Object Number: 754908 Size: SH
  3. Remove the emblem retaining nuts.
  4. Remove the emblem from the grille.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 754908 Size: SH
  1. Install the emblem to the grille.

    2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  2. Install the nuts that retain the emblem to the grille.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  3. Install the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement.

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1774004 Size: SH
  1. When replacing or repairing an emblem/nameplate do the following:
    2. 1.1. Use tape to protect the mounting surface during removal.
    1.2. Use tape for alignment marks for installation of the emblem/nameplate.
  2. To remove an emblem/nameplate, heat the emblem/nameplate using a heat gun. Apply heat using a circular motion for about 30 seconds.

    3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Use a plastic, flat-bladed tool to remove the emblem/nameplate from the panel surface.
  4. When replacing, remove all adhesive as follows:
    5. • For body panels use a 3M™ Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk 3M™ P/N 07501 or equivalent.
    • For plastic panels use a lint-free cloth and Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naptha or a 50/50 mixture by volume of isopropyl alcohol and water to remove the adhesive.

Installation Procedure

    Note: Apply the emblem/nameplate in an environment that is free from dust or other dirt that could come into contact with the sticky backing. Foreign material may cause improper adhesion.

  1. Clean the area where the emblem/nameplate will be installed.

    2. Use a lint-free cloth and VMP naptha or a 50/50 mixture by volume of isopropyl alcohol and water to clean the area.

  2. Dry the area thoroughly.
  3. Apply tape and mark the location as shown.
  4. Heat the mounting surface to approximately 27-41°C (80-105°F).
  5. Ensure that the temperature of the emblem/nameplate is approximately 29-32°C (85-90°F).
  6. Remove the protective liner from the back of the emblem/nameplate.
  7. Position the emblem/nameplate to the alignment holes and press the emblem/nameplate to the mounting surface.
  8. Apply equal pressure along the emblem/nameplate to uniformly bond the item to the mounting surface.
  9. Remove the protective tape from the mounting surface.

Radiator Grille Ornament Assembly

Caution: Refer to Exterior Trim Emblem Removal Caution in the Preface section.

Procedure

  1. The part and surface should be 21°C (70°F) prior to installation. The vehicle should remain 21°C (70°F) for one hour after assembly to allow adhesive to develop sufficient bond strength.
  2. Use a J 25070 Heat Gun or equivalent to remove the old ornament. Clean all adhesive from grille and wipe the surface dry with a clean lint-free towel prior to installing the new ornament.
  3. When removing protective liners from the adhesive tape, be careful not to touch tape with hands and do not allow tape to come in contact with dirt or any foreign matter prior to adhesion.
  4. Align the two pins on the ornament with the holes in the inner grille.
  5. Using the palm of the hand, wet out the ornament to the inner grille and ensure full adhesion of the ornament is made.
