DEFINITION: Perform this test in order to verify the auto level control air compressor performance and to identify and repair the potential leaks in the auto level control air compressor assembly.

1

  1. Disconnect the electrical connection to the auto level control air compressor assembly.
  2. Disconnect the air line from the dryer.
  3. Connect the air dryer to the J 22124-B on the side opposite of the toggle valve. Close the toggle valve (down position).
  4. Using fused jumpers, connect the auto level control air compressor terminal A and E to a 12 V+ source, and terminal D and G to ground.
  5. Allow the compressor to run until the J 22124-B gauge shows the specified value.
  6. Disconnect the power supply to the compressor.

Important: After one minute, the pressure may drop down to 620 kPa (90 psi). This is ACCEPTABLE.

Does the compressor develop the specified pressure?

759 kPa (110 psi)

2

  1. Apply service air pressure to the J 22124-B service valve until the J 22124-B gauge shows the specified value.
  2. Inspect for leaks by applying a soap bubble solution to the compressor at the following locations:
  3. • The dryer O-ring casting bore (1)
    • The dryer cover (2).
    • The cover bolts (3)
    • The head casting air intake and exhaust opening (4).
    • Around the edge of the solenoid valve terminal housing (5).
    • Around the edge of the cover gasket (6).
  4. Repair or replace all of the leaking compressor component(s) as necessary.

Did you locate and repair any leaks?

759 kPa (110 psi)

690 kPa (100 psi)

3

  1. Connect the fused power supply to the compressor in order to activate the compressor.
  2. Allow the compressor to run until the J 22124-B gauge shows the specified value.

Does the compressor develop the specified pressure?

759 kPa (110 psi)

System OK

Go to Step 4

4

Replace the compressor. Refer to Air Compressor Replacement .

Has the repair been performed?

5

Monitor the J 22124-B gauge for 1 minute.

Does the pressure drop down below the specified value?

620 kPa (90 psi)
