Condition
Important: If the customer did not bring their vehicle in for this issue, DO NOT proceed with this bulletin.
Some customers may comment on any of the following conditions:
| • | Extended engine crank times |
| • | Having to have the vehicle jump-started |
| • | Dead battery |
| • | Low Voltage indicator light on |
Cause
Important: Due to the procedures for transporting of hazardous materials, this bulletin only applies to dealers/vehicles located in the SE Michigan/Northern Ohio area.
GM Engineering is interesting in obtaining any battery from a vehicle in which the diagnosis has lead to a battery replacement.
Be sure to document the following information on the repair order:
| • | Verify that the VIN, mileage and customer's concern are accurately documented. |
| • | Inspect the battery for leaking, and/or a cracked, broken or damaged case. Note findings on the repair order. |
| • | Use J 42000 Battery Tester to test the battery. Document the code provided from the tester. |
